
English Literature
Department Goals: The program is designed to develop students’ English language proficiency and skills necessary for their future career and study. The program also aims at equipping students with the skill of teaching that would be helpful for their teaching job.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes:
a). Students are proficient in the four macro-skills according to the program’s/ course
b). Students are able to use at least six 21st century skills in their social interaction. These skills include 1) critical thinking, 2) decision making, 3) communication, 4) collaboration, 5) responsibility, and 6) initiative
c). Students are able to prepare lesson plans, course syllabus, select teaching materials, design tests, and choose appropriate techniques to apply in the real classroom settings.
Goal
- Adapt Outcome-Based Education philosophy for designing quality and innovative English language curriculum and for teaching and learning. (Outcomes, Learning Experiences, Assessment)
- Design the curriculum which well-fits to the needs of the job markets.
- Equip students with the knowledge of English particularly the four macro-skills according to the course/program levels (Associate Degree).
- Equip students with the 21st century skills – critical thinking, decision making, communication, collaboration, responsibility, and initiative.
- Foster the instructions to enforce HRDI’s Core Values (L-O-V-E)
Outcome
- All students obtain the English proficiency according to the four macro-skills (reading, listening, speaking and writing).
- All teachers are qualified enough for outcome-based curriculum and instructional design
